New Zealand

Backcountry adventure across the globe.

27.08.12

For many people August is that time of year when you hit the beach and enjoy the last part of summer. We decided to do the complete opposite and traveled 17800 kilometers across the globe and into the deep New Zealand backcountry.

The main goal for this trip is to gather the best possible backcountry footage with the talents of Aleksander Aurdal, Tim Durtschi and snowboarder Andreas Wiig. Aleksander is well known for his big stylish tricks in the park, especially in the latest film Being There. From Anchorage, Alaska Tim is a new face in the Field Productions crew. He has proven to be one of the worlds best backcountry skiers through mindblowing film segments the past years. In the mix we also have the very experienced snowboarder Andreas. He is well known for his successful career since year 2003.

In our past projects we have not been able to film that much of backcountry kickers and with the ongoing two-year project we feel it is a must to get more of this kind of skiing into our films, says director and producer Filip Christensen.

The terrain here has a lot of good features, both when it comes to building kickers and when it comes to freeriding, says Andreas.

Aleksander agrees and adds: The backcountry in New Zealand is an unique experience, and it feels great to be back exploring the backcountry after a few years of only skiing the terrain parks.

Tim continues: I am really happy to join Field Productions for this shoot. There are so many options in the backcountry here and its a luxury to be able to point of kickers spots from the helicopter, but thats the only way to access the terrain here.

The crew has been out filming the past week and it is still some time left of the trip.
