Aksel’s Backyard is a project based on the idea of Aksel Lund Svindal exploring freeskiing in the European Alps. Together with Åsmund Thorsen, Bene Mayr and lead guide Bernd Krainbucher the crew went to Switzerland and Austria in search of big mountain terrain in the areas Aksel usually race.

Norwegian version (VGTV)

International version:

On location in Alaska
Haines, Alaska is the worlds biggest playground for skiers and snowboarders. We are fortunate to be back here working in these amazing mountains with the talents of
Åsmund Thorsen, Asbjørn Eggebø Næss and the German Tom Leitner.

So far this adventure has been exciting with sunny days and gnarly terrain, but challenging snow conditions for the crew. At this point we need more snow to keep the show going.

Check out the photos to the right for more action.

New project in the works
We are proud to announce that we are in the making of a full length film to be released November 2013. With two years in the making, this will be the biggest production in Field Productions history.

In the past eight years Field Productions has released ski films each fall. The latest project Being There (October 2011) won several international awards and it got great feedback world wide. The project had a total reach to over 5 million people. The time has come to put even more hours of hard work into documenting skiing and its personalities through an exciting two-year journey. To fulfill our ideas and goals we need more than one year to work with.

Behind the scenes web series
To keep you up to date of the production there will be released a behind the scenes web series both the fall of 2012 and the fall of 2013.

The athletes
We are fortunate to work with a group of hard working athletes who knows what it takes to get a best possible result. Here are a few quotes from some of them regarding the project:

I like the concept of a two-year project. It demands more, but opens a more complex storyline. It is a cool thing to follow athletes and their ideas, and see how they evolve and progress in a bit bigger setting. – Åsmund Thorsen

Everything we do together is with a goal to produce footage that will blow away the audience. With two years in the making we finally get the time to capture the best possible footage. – Even Sigstad and Jesper Tjäder

Two-year projects are hard, but if you do it right, it can be really sick for sure. I’m definitely in to work with Field Productions and get some bangers for this project. Tom Wallisch

It means more time for our crew to get every shot we want, and hopefully end up with a result that will get people smiling and turn some heads, both on skiing and cinematography. – Aleksander Aurdal
